Party for the Planet at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Last Friday, April 7th, Arizona Sonora Desert Museum hosted "Party for the Planet" event as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' initiative to raise awareness about conservation and sustainability. Museum offered Friday evening celebration of local brews and fun conservation themed activities, such as mission-oriented "rogue" improv comedy interpretations, "Sunset Lounge" with DJ, flashlight tours, face painting and conservation Jenga. With this event, the Museum attracted and engaged new audiences by offering a social and entertaining forum to talk about its conservation research, projects and initiatives.

From its start, ASDM has worked to understand, connect people to and protect the natural systems of the Sonoran Desert Region. The Sonoran Desert has one of the greatest varieties of plants and animals of any desert worldwide. It is the only place in the world where you can find the majestic saguaro cactus! Its varied geography and bi-seasonal rainfall support a surprising variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods as well. The Museum's science research and conservation activities have been widely recognized for many decades.
